This past Sunday, the good folks at St. Augustine’s put on their Sunday best (especially Baby James) and welcomed Bishop Roger Ames for his yearly visit. In keeping with the Easter season, the Bishop delivered an impassioned homily on the importance of the resurrection. He encouraged us to not be afraid to reach out to others and share the power of the resurrection, as God can use a simple prayer or a brief visit to bring hope and healing into someone’s life. Speaking of the imagery of the Good Shepherd, Bishop also reminded us of Jesus’ willingness to lay down his life for his sheep, exhorting us to remember and share his love. In addition to the bishop’s excellent sermon, the service was punctuated by beautiful musical performances by the Matsudas, Dondra, Val, and the Bishop’s wife, Gretsie. All of this added up to make this past Sunday one to remember, and all of us at St. Augustine’s pray that the Lord will bless and keep Bishop Roger and his wife until we see them again next year.
