St. Augustine’s continues to strengthen its budding children’s education program through Godly Play. Each Sunday, our Otterbein University interns and parishioners teach the lessons of the Bible, using materials that the children can see, touch, and manipulate. For example, after a lesson on Moses crossing the Red Sea with the Israelites, the children can reenact the story using felt pieces and wooden characters. With this combination of learning tools, lessons of faith have both a concrete component and a spiritual one. New to the program this year are songs that help the children learn Bible verses. “Miss Val” Bowser teaches a new song and scripture each Sunday. Organized by the alphabet letters, these songs, accompanied by hand actions, give the children a tangible hook for memorizing the sacred truths of the Bible. With the help of a structurally sound program and dedicated teachers, our children are growing in their knowledge of our Lord each Sunday. We have room for you! Come join us at St. Augustine’s.
