What do you love best about St. Augustine’s? Jeanne: The tradition and structure of the Anglican service is familiar to me and I think it is beautiful. Most of all, I love the people at St. Augustine’s. They are down to earth and care deeply about one another. They aren’t condescending but genuine in their love. Many churches say we are a “family,” but they aren’t. St. Augustine’s really is a church family.Lauren: I agree and I feel that everyone really wants what is best for each other. They want you to be successful and happy.
How has St. Augustine’s changed your life? Do you have any specific memories you want to share? Jeanne: My faith has become stronger since being at St. Augustine’s. Bishop Ames and his wife, Gretsie, had a deep impact on me when they were involved with our parish. They set such good examples through their relationship with each other and with the Lord. Spending time with them was inspiring.Lauren: I have grown deeper in my relationship with Christ. At St. Augustine’s we are shown that our faith is more than “just the facts.” All of the church events have been a big influence on my life: the church picnics, parties, home groups, meals, etc. Anglicans really know how to have fun! Also, participating in Fr. Ric and Val’s homegroup has changed me. We are able to hear everyone’s stories and perspectives. We can disagree with each other, but there is always love and mutual respect. Everyone brings something to the meetings.
Where do you see St. Augustine’s going now that we have a building? Jeanne: I think that growing in numbers will be important. Also, as a church community, we want to set a good example in all we do and help others to grow in their relationship with the Lord.Lauren: I hope to see more opportunities for outreach in the Westerville community and to have more of a presence in the community. I’d also love to see St. Augustine’s partner with other local churches and ministries to have a greater impact within our community.
