The second Sunday of Easter brought the confirmation of of a mother and her son, and the reception of a family of three. Bishop Roger Ames of our Anglican Diocese of the Great Lakes led this service of renewal and celebration on April 27, 2014. Gretsie Ames shared her gifts at the gathering hymn, playing a medley of praise songs, including one she had written. At the offertory, Val Bowser, a parishioner, played three of Gretsie’s compositions. The bishop’s powerful sermon reminded us of the power of the Holy Spirit in the life of the church. St. Augustine’s was inspired and challenged by the presence of this wise and faithful couple of the Lord to be changed by God to make a difference for God.
