The last Sunday in January 2016 was alive with purpose and activity. With music, Scripture, and lighted candles, the worship service focused on Candlemas – the Presentation of Christ at the Temple. Afterward, the congregation gathered, elbow to elbow, to share a meal and to share the parish missions and ministries over the past year. The church also passed its first set of by-laws, and Fr. Kevin reminded the congregation that May 2016 will mark the fifth anniversary of the forming of St. Augustine’s. And then, there were farewells and a gift to the Feisters. In December, Fr. Ron Feister accepted the call to be the rector of Grace Church Anglican in Circleville. He and his wife, Ann, found St. Augustine’s through an ad in the Westerville Community News in 2014. For several years now, they have been a quiet, giving force, sharing their resources, their talents, and the best homemade desserts one could ever hope to eat. They will always have a place at St. Augustine’s and in our hearts. As we rejoiced on this festive day, we prayed: In the tender mercy of our God, the dayspring from on high has broken upon us, to give light to those who dwell in darkness and the shadow of death, and to guide our feet into the way of peace. Blessings to the Feisters and to St. Augustine’s Anglican as we serve out the mission to be changed by God to make a difference for God.
