St. Augustine’s mission work ran the gamut on Friday, August 28, 2015. One team set up shop at the Otterbein University student union to welcome students at First Friday for the fall semester. Give-aways included mini-coolers and water bottles, all with St. Augustine’s name and website address. Carl, Beth, Lauren, Fr. Kevin and Terry said hello students – handing out church postcards, and inviting them to worship with us on Sunday. Team Two set up a booth on Home Street in Uptown Westerville for Fourth Friday. The community event was called the Dog Days of Summer. St. Augustine’s was ready with priests and blessings and pet food scoops and mini-coolers – all for the purpose of engaging passing dog owners and parents in conversation. The most popular item once again was the helium-filled red St. Auggie’s balloon that we gave to anyone who asked for one. Thanks go to St. Ann, Curt, Fr. Kevin, Fr. Ron, Ann F., Lauren, Jeanne, Jeff, Sarah, Dondra, and Orion the Dog for meeting and greeting over during the three-hour event. Putting a face on our church is a reason for this mission work. Hopefully, God will use the givers of mini-coolers, pet food scoops, and red balloons to invite seekers to a small and mighty church that is changed by God to make a difference for God.
