The second St. Augie’s Chili Cook-off was held this past Friday, November 18 and, as the saying goes, a good time was had by all. Five pots of really good chili were entered by the members of our congregation. After a suitable period of fellowship, everyone enthusiastically prepared make their selection, grabbed taster cups and dug in, considering the taste, texture, ingredients and aroma in their decision and, ultimate vote, for their favorite. Proper identification was required and ballots were marked, secretly of course. Tension was high and all waited with baited breath while Dr. Falor counted the votes. Who would win? Would Mrs. Patrick, the reigning champion be unseated? Dr. Falor shouted, “we have a winner!” Alas, it was not to be. Mrs. Patrick retained her crown for yet another year. As one would expect, she was magnanimous in victory. To see delightful photos of the Chili Cook-Off and to see what fun-loving folks attend St. Augustine’s, click here.
