On Sunday, March 16, 2014, the faithful from St. Augustine’s traveled to Worthington Christian Village to make our monthly rounds. The time had its joy and sadness. Immediately upon arriving at the 6th Floor, we learned that one of our precious residents had died the week before. A basket full of yellow flowers, her favorites, sat on the foyer table in the hall, a reminder of this woman’s sunny spirit. In her late 90’s, she still read voraciously, and could coax a laugh out of her visitors at any time. Down the hall, we visited a 97-year-old, a recipient of the Purple Heart. We heard his stories as a soldier and as a family man in the subsequent years. When we entered his room, he was looking at photos on his computer – a testimony to his determination to keep up with the latest technology in this new century. As we left, he thanked us for spending time with him, for showing interest in his life. If you are looking for a way to show God’s love to others, why don’t you come along? Generally, we visit the third Sunday in each month. Check the website for changes, or click here to confirm the schedule.
