A lot of my time is spent organizing and executing club events. When I get home, it’s hard to flip off the mental work switch. Do you ever struggle with that?
Some nights, I’ll be up past midnight thinking (aka worrying) about event details or tying up loose ends. Yesterday, was one of those anxiety driven evenings. A weather forecast predicting 2-4 inches of snow didn’t help either. The additional stress sent me into a mental spin! “What time should I get up to beat traffic downtown? What if I don’t get enough sleep to complete that last minute task”? These thoughts plagued me as I tossed and turned.
At 1:15 AM it finally hit me; why am I toiling over things that are out of my control, AGAIN?! A few Bible versus came to mind in that moment. Using the verses to support my prayer brought a certain freedom from anxiety and then… finally…peace.
“Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Don’t let your heart be troubled or fearful.” John 14:27
The world can only offer temporary peace, but God’s peace is forever. AMEN. +
